Prince Albert Victor was supposed to marry her, but he died of typhoid before
their wedding. His younger brother George, ended up marrying her instead.
She became Queen Mary, sometimes called "Fat Mary." Appropriately, she
christened the Queen Mary ocean liner, which was named after her.


Mary married George Frederick Ernest Albert V Saxe-Coburg, son of King Albert Edward VII Saxe-Coburg of England and Alexandra Caroline Mary Charlotte of Denmark. (George Frederick Ernest Albert V Saxe-Coburg was born on 3 Jun 1865 in Marlborough House and died on 20 Jan 1936 in Sandringham, Norfolk.)
