The Family Grave of Frederick George & Elizabeth West.

In loving memory of Elizabeth, beloved wife of Frederick George West who passed away 17th October 1903, aged 62 years. A loving wife, a mother dear, a faithful friend has left us here. Grieve not for her the lord doth take, but love each other for her sake.

Also Frederick George West, beloved husband of the above, who departed this life 31st October 1904, aged 59 years. Gone from us but not forgotten, never shall thy memory fade. Sweetest thoughts shall ever linger round the spot where thou art laid.

Also Arthur West, youngest son of the above, who was killed in action in France 28th August 1918, aged 37 years. Greater love hath no man than this that he lay down his life for his country.

In loving memory of my dear husband Frederick George West who passed away Nov 23rd 1944, aged 73 years. His lifes work well done, just fell asleep.

• Residence, 31 Oct 1904, Ilford, Essex, England. The burial records held by the City of London Cemetery record that Frederick George West's residence at the time of death was 186 High Road, Ilford, Essex. It is further noted that the grave is a 1st Class, brick lined grave. I have not seen the record but a City of London employee (Tim) read the details out to me on 21 Feb 2012. The grave can be found at the start of Forges Road in the Cemetery leading to the Church.

Frederick married Elizabeth Sanderson, daughter of Floyd Collett Sanderson and Rose, on 12 Mar 1870 in St. Mary-atte-Bow, Stratford, Essex.¹ (Elizabeth Sanderson was born Cal 1841,³ died on 17 Oct 1903 ³ and was buried in City of London Cemetery, Manor Park, London.)
