Philippe du Preez ^{1 2}

• Biography: by Agnes Rissik: South Africa. ³ Philippe, the eldest child of Hercules Des Pré, owned many farms including Wagenmaker's Vallei (on which Wellington now stands) & in Tulbagh & later, in 1740, farms in the Groot Vaders Bosch district of Swellendam (which were bought in 1832 by William Watkin Alexander).

On 28 Feb 1699 was granted land "Klip Vallei" - Wagenmakersvallei (Wellington) on the Spruit River - tributary of the Berg River. Some of Wellington's streets are on the original farm. In 1707 he was appointed Ensign to the Drakenstein force. In 1698 he married Elisabeth Prévot, born near Calais, France, Daughter of Charles Prévot who also came out in the 'Schelde'.

Philippe married Elisabeth Prévot, daughter of Charles Prévot and Marie le Fèbre, in 1698. (Elisabeth Prévot was born in 1683 in Marcq, near Calais, France ^{2 3} and died on 18 Jan 1750 in Tulbagh, Cape Province, South Africa ².)
