• Obituary, 1762, Cork, Co. Cork, Ireland. 2 Thomas Jones was married 3 times and had several children who died young. During the Wesley Riots in Cork 1749 Thomas Jones played an active part & gave Wesley all possible support. As early as 1751 Thomas Jones had joined St. Peter's Church & acted as Churchwarden there. He died 20th June 1762, of an epidemic in Cork. John Wesley writes "So died Thomas Jones, a man whom God raised from nothing by a blessing his unwearied diligence to a plentiful fortune. Yet when riches increased on every side, he did not set his heart on them. Some years since he retired from business but was still fully employed in building and in doing good. His natural temper was rough and so was his speech which occasioned him many trials, but notwithstanding this he was a generous & compassionate & never weary of well doing. In Cork Mr Thomas Jones gave between & for the Preaching House."

It is related that the house occupied by Thomas Jones in Cork was in the North Main St. at the corner of Cross Lure (or Gun) Lane and within three doors northwards of the house of North Gate occupied by Robert I, whose shop seems to have been Batchelors Quay.

There are references to Thomas Jones in Cookshanks "History of Methodism" Vol I. p.p. 51, 62, 65, 93, 161, 208.
