He died 20th June 1762, of an epidemic in Cork. John Wesley writes "So died Thomas Jones, a man whom God raised from nothing by a blessing his unwearied diligence to a plentiful fortune. Yet when riches increased on every side, he did not set his heart on them. Some years since he retired from business but was still fully employed in building and in doing good. His natural temper was rough and so was his speech which occasioned him many trials, but notwithstanding this he was a generous & compassionate & never weary of well doing. In Cork Mr Thomas Jones gave between & for the Preaching House."
